The United States Forest Service’s Office of International Programs and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) have supported the development of Green Value and the training activities since 2008, when Dr. Thomas Holmes and Dr. Shoana Humphries began working on the spreadsheets and User's Guide. Other early supporters of Green Value were IMAZON, IEB, and IFT, which provided useful feedback on Green Value when it was first being used in Brazil. In 2012, Earth Innovation Institute (EII) launched the Strengthening Community-based Forest Enterprises in the Tropics project and chose representatives of eleven non-profit organizations in the Amazon region to train as trainers in Green Value. Since 2013, many governmental organizations helped support Green Value workshops.  These organizations are listed below.
